Sumi is an AI manga translator that works where you already read. Install the browser extension for Chrome, Firefox or Safari and the translated text appears in place over the original artwork — speech bubbles keep their shape, panels keep their layout, and you stay on the publisher’s own site. There is also an iOS and Mac app, and a web translator for one-off pages.

Because the extension reads the page you are already on, there is nothing to upload and no file to prepare. On iPhone and iPad the Safari extension puts a floating button on the page, so the same reading flow works on a phone as on a desktop browser.

Sumi handles Japanese, Korean and Chinese comics and renders them into 134 languages on the web and in the extension. The iOS and Mac app covers 14. On-device offline translation is included, so a downloaded chapter still works on a plane or underground.

Online you can upload JPEG, PNG, WebP, ZIP or CBZ files. PDF and EPUB are handled by the app rather than the web version.

Pricing is freemium and starts at $6.99 a month, or $69.99 a year. There is no trial: you get one page without an account, five more when you sign up, and five more claimable every day, so you can judge the output on your own comics before paying.
